Vestas and Mibrag have signed an agreement for the supply of wind turbines, EP Group continues transforming former mining areas into sustainable energy sources

Mibrag, a subsidiary of Energetický a průmyslový holding (EPH), signed a deal for the supply of Vestas wind turbines for new Profen II wind park being built in the reclaimed area of a former lignite open-pit mine located on the border of the German federal states of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.
In Profen, ten wind turbines with a capacity of 6.2 MW each will produce around 160 gigawatt hours of electricity annually, which Mibrag plans to feed into the public grid starting in 2027. This amount of electricity will be enough to power approximately 46,000 households.
“The 62 MW wind power project in Profen marks another step in our program to transform former mining sites into sustainable energy sources. This initiative is a cornerstone of our broader strategy to transition from traditional to sustainable energy generation, positioning us as a leader in Germany’s energy transformation,” says Tomáš David, member of the board of EPH.
By the end of 2025, Mibrag will be integrated into EP Energy Transition. Both EPH and EP Energy Transition are part of EP Group.
