Energetický a průmyslový holding, a.s. (EPH), through its Dutch subsidiary PZEM which is part of EP Netherlands B.V. (EP NL), has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Nobian for the purchase of electricity from the Dutch offshore windpark Gemini, one of the largest offshore wind parks in the Netherlands.
The Gemini Wind Park, located in the North Sea near the Dutch coast, will supply a total of 300 GWh of renewable energy through PZEM in 2024 and 500 GWh in 2025. This amount of energy is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 90 to 150 thousand households, saving more than 500,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Nobian will use the purchased electricity for salt production and electrolysis, covering 10-15% of Nobian’s annual power consumption.
“We are proud to play a pivotal role in the supply of renewable energy in the Netherlands. We aim to create a mix of different energy sources and achieve sustainable growth in energy production and supply. The agreement with Nobian is an important step toward achieving this goal. It enables us to fulfil our ambition to actively contribute to shaping the future of the energy sector and a sustainable energy mix,” says Peter Černák, Member of the Board of Directors of EP Power Europe, a. s. and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EP NL.
