22 MW Haidemühl solar park commissioned as a part of a broader Gigawatt Factory initiative

The Haidemühl solar park, built on the edge of the Welzow-Süd opencast mine, was commissioned on November 25, 2024. Haidemühl solar park, operated by LEAG, a subsidiary of EP Energy Transition, is a part of LEAG Gigawatt Factory initiative. Transforming former mining areas into wind and/or solar parks is in line with EP Group´s goal of transitioning to sustainable energy power generation. The photovoltaic plant will feed solar power with a capacity of 22 MWp into the grid.
“With the commissioning of our fifth solar park, our green electricity portfolio continues to grow. We are currently developing and building projects with a total capacity of around 3.9 gigawatts, which means that we will provide additional capacity in the coming months and years,” says Dominique Guillou, CEO of LEAG Renewables GmbH.
With similar renewable energy projects, Lusatia is becoming a center for Germany’s sustainable energy future. At the same time, a large battery storage facility is being built at the Boxberg solar park to make this electricity available 24/7.
